It started waaaay back in 2010. I was beginning to make cloth diapers for my newborn and got the "business advice" to start selling. I thought, "Wow! Why not?!"

Long story short, I fell head first into this 'compliance thing' and was right where you are now. I was 'I'm-going-to-be-in-a-jail-cell-with-a-bucket' overwhelmed with how many agencies had their fingers in such a small little thing I was making!

With many years of research, connections with the CPSC, industry associations & organizations devoted to product safety, and a Masters in Public Administration, I teach US product safety compliance to tens of thousands of makers.

    General Questions

  • What happens if I choose not to do the membership?

    I would absolutely love to have you join us, but I get it. If you don't join the membership, you may spend longer researching the information you need to be compliant.

    You might spend more in testing than you actually need to.

    You might even forget to come back to looking into compliance and we definitely don't want that.

  • What happens if I choose to not do any of this?

    I'm going to be blunt here. The main agency that is able to enforce these regulations we follow is the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The cap is currently at $100,000 *per* violation, but senators have introduced the Consumer Advocacy and Protection Act 0f 2024 which would increase the per violation penalty to $250,000 and *remove* the cap for a related series of violations.

    But it's more than that. If you don't have legal products, you actually run a bigger risk to your consumer, the little tyke actually using the product -- yes, that means potentially harming a child with your product.

    You risk your brand reputation, your business, and your own family and home.

  • What, exactly, do I get in this?

    You'll have access to all my teether & pacifier leash information, first and formost. That's the main course to get you through the process for a legal product.

  • When are the monthly office hours?

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who wonders this! Currently our office hour is the third Friday of every month at 11am Central (9am Pacific, 12pm Eastern)

  • Am I stuck here for a certain time?

    Eww, absolutely not! I absolutely hate having to stay for a specific amount of time or having to email and jump through hoops to pause or cancel, so I absolutely will not do it to you. No, you have 100% control over your membership, including how long you want to stay.

  • How long can I expect to need this?

    Honestly, probably a couple weeks to a month.

    Those who stay longer are typically 'done' but stay for the community and for the answers to random lying-in-bed-and-my-brain-won't-sush questions.

  • I'm so in, can I pay for a year at a time?

  • What if I don't like the membership?

    If you get in and you are feeling more overwhelmed, please reach out to me first. I would love to make sure you get where you are trying to go in this journey.

    If, after 7 days, you feel that this really isn't for you, and I am unable to assist you, I'm happy to refund your first membership charge.
